Snowsport England appointed rms sports consultants to provide advisory funding support to a targeted project. Following attendance at a funding workshop delivered by rms sports consultants in Staffordshire, Snowsport England decided that rms sports consultants could provide some added value in terms of advisory funding support and advice.
Strike three for rms sports consultants as they continue to secure further funding for Burntwood Rugby Club. The latest success includes £35,500 which has just been secured to support new floodlights at the club. This concludes a range of facility improvements including a changing room extension, pitch improvements and grounds maintenance equipment and new floodlights with approximately £235,000 grant aid support secured in total.
It has only taken rms sports consultants just 8 months to help Trentham Rugby Club secure approximately £60,000 towards establishing a new rugby pitch, which will allow the club to expand their overall club membership.

rms believes in sport and the good it can achieve in promoting good health and well being, as well as bringing the community together. This is why we are proud to support a local recreational hockey group aimed at getting women back into sport.
The Derby Ducks are a women's recreational hockey team, who meet on a weekly basis to play hockey and develop their skills. They do not play in a league and cater for anyone of any ability. They welcome women over the age of 18 years to come along and join in as no experience is necessary. Sessions are all about fun and enjoyment in a team based environment. Mansfield District Council hosted a newly designed workshop based on Club Development Planning and helping sports clubs to produce high quality club development plans. Participants worked through various exercises, with one club describing the session as 'like opening a window'.

rms sports consultants in association with Fundraising Skills UK Ltd launched a second e-learning course in sports funding, but this time, it is aimed at Sports Development Professionals, who have a club development role as well as individuals studying for a career in sports development. It is accredited by NCFE and is an eight work course on how to advise clubs with funding applications for sports projects.
Trent Rowing Club wanted to secure funding to support new boats and coach education to help them accommodate a growing membership and junior programme. rms secured approximately £20,000 in grant aid support, to help the club purchase a number of new boats as well as support some volunteers to complete a coaching award in rowing. The boats are already being well used and the club's volunteers are also looking forward to completing their coaching awards.

These projects will now complete the clubs facility improvements which began with the changing room project and rms helping the club to secure £158,000 towards this project.

Rachel Scott, our senior funding specialist has recently completed a period of 15 months working with Derbyshire Sport, providing funding support. Whilst she was there, she was able to secure approximately £1.2m in just 15 months on behalf of a range of different groups and organisations in Derbyshire towards a variety of sports projects, which included one of only a few projects to be funded by Sport England in the first Sport England Themed Round - Rural Communities Fund and Youth Sector Development Fund.

rms sports consultants produced training materials and case studies for a new Open College Network accredited e-learning course - The Certificate in Sports Funding on behalf of Fundraising Skills UK Ltd, an e-learning organisation specialising in fundraising training. It was launched by rms sports consultants and Fundraising Skills UK Ltd in May 2009 and is proving to be very popular. The course is designed to help sport clubs and sports development professionals and students to have a greater understanding of writing a high quality grant application to secure funding for sport. The certificate comprises of six modules which are easily completed over a six week period and cover many subjects including project planning, club development and evidencing need.

It involved making bids to various funders over a 12 month period and the new changing rooms will be ready for this coming rugby season.

rms was recently commissioned by Sport England West Midlands to carry out a self audit of grant management files to ensure that they complied with national Sport England standards. One hundred and fifty eight files from current and legacy programmes were assessed against a template through a self audit system to ensure that all records and documents were in place electronically and manually. This involved on a file by file basis and on the electronic grants management system a systematic search and recording of key items of paperwork, documents, records and returns.
