rms sports consultants has secured a further £96,000 on behalf of Newcastle (Staffs) Rugby Union Football Club to help them to provide new floodlights and carry out improvements to the main pitch. These projects will now complete the clubs facility improvements which began with the changing room project and rms helping the club to secure £158,000 towards this project.

The workshop is proving to be extremely popular amongst Governing Bodies of Sport, Local Authorities and County Sport Partnerships as being beneficial to clubs and staff. rms has recently delivered its Sports Funding Workshop of behalf of the East Midlands RFU, Mansfield District Council, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent with further bookings received from Sport Nottinghamshire over the coming months.

Rachel Scott, our senior funding specialist has recently completed a period of 15 months working with Derbyshire Sport, providing funding support. Whilst she was there, she was able to secure approximately £1.2m in just 15 months on behalf of a range of different groups and organisations in Derbyshire towards a variety of sports projects, which included one of only a few projects to be funded by Sport England in the first Sport England Themed Round - Rural Communities Fund and Youth Sector Development Fund.

rms sports consultants produced training materials and case studies for a new Open College Network accredited e-learning course - The Certificate in Sports Funding on behalf of Fundraising Skills UK Ltd, an e-learning organisation specialising in fundraising training. It was launched by rms sports consultants and Fundraising Skills UK Ltd in May 2009 and is proving to be very popular. The course is designed to help sport clubs and sports development professionals and students to have a greater understanding of writing a high quality grant application to secure funding for sport. The certificate comprises of six modules which are easily completed over a six week period and cover many subjects including project planning, club development and evidencing need.

rms has continued to support Notts County Football In the Community with further fundraising and has just helped them to secure a further £603,000 to expand the Active Schools project in Nottingham City schools.

'We can now play hockey safely with our new goalkeeping equipment and the coaching will also help us to improve our game and learn the rules whilst encouraging more local women back to recreational sport.' It involved making bids to various funders over a 12 month period and the new changing rooms will be ready for this coming rugby season.

rms sports consultants has recently secured £281,000 from various sources on behalf of Notts County Football In the Community which will be used to deliver a project which will aim to engage lots of children from the inner city areas of Nottingham into regular sport and physical activity using football and indoor rowing.

rms sports consultants recently delivered a sports funding workshop at the RFUW Midlands Conference held at Worcester Rugby Club in June. The Clubs in attendance found the workshop very interesting with some useful information on how to prepare a successful funding application.

rms was recently commissioned by Sport England West Midlands to carry out a self audit of grant management files to ensure that they complied with national Sport England standards. One hundred and fifty eight files from current and legacy programmes were assessed against a template through a self audit system to ensure that all records and documents were in place electronically and manually. This involved on a file by file basis and on the electronic grants management system a systematic search and recording of key items of paperwork, documents, records and returns.

Following considerable club development planning over a number of months rms then helped Nottingham Rowing Club to secure a total of £174,000 over a 2-year period to support the delivery of a range of different projects including an indoor rowing project within the local School Sport Partnership, the establishment of a junior rowing academy, changing room refurbishment and work place rowing project.
